The Y means community and inclusion.
In Berkeley Heights, Summit and around the world, the past two years have been a test of our resilience and strength. But throughout it, the Summit Area YMCA continued advancing our cause-driven mission, as we have done for over 135 years.

Our community’s trust, cooperation, loyalty and confidence in our Y gives us the strength to soldier on. While these unprecedented times have been challenging for all, we have continued to work hard to ensure that we are here for everyone who needs us – for better or worse. Your support empowers us to become stronger as we continue to pivot, to evolve, serve and provide for our community not only tomorrow, but for many years to come.

CAUSE-DRIVEN MISSION

Our three areas of focus are what we dedicate ourselves to every day. We believe that by nurturing these three pillars, we can support our local communities and help every individual discover and reach their potential, become healthier and encourage behaviors and actions that improve their lives.

Together with the Y, as a community, we are stronger.

to reach their full potential.

At the Y, we give young people a safe place to belong, to build confidence and to learn positive behaviors from strong role models who exemplify the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
Whether it be child care, early education, youth swim and sports, camp or college preparation, our programs and staff provide the support and opportunities needed to help our youth learn, grow and thrive.

SUMMIT AREA YMCA
BERKELEY HEIGHTS YMCA | SPRINGFIELD COMMUNITY POOL | SUMMIT YMCA | THE LEARNING CIRCLE YMCA
In 1886, we were founded as the Young Men's Christian Association, but today, we are The Y. An association that values, and is made stronger by, its diverse people. We stand for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility — For a better us. We are committed to creating equal opportunity for all regardless of gender, age, disability, income, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious affiliation. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive culture in which our four core values — responsibility, honesty, caring and respect — are integral to everyday operations.

Each year, as one of the area’s leading 501(c)3 charitable organizations, the Summit Area YMCA serves more than 15,000 individuals with our free and fee-based programs and services in an area spanning the New Jersey communities of Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit. Our history is rooted in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners, we are able to offer financial assistance for our programs and services to those in need.
