CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
These capital investments will allow the Summit Area YMCA to collaborate with more local organizations and partners, serve more children and families, create additional programs of all disciplines and cement our role as the true community leader for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Berkeley Heights YMCA Opening Day
In February, we opened the doors to our first new facility in over 100 years and the first new YMCA constructed in New Jersey in over 10 years. The completion of the Berkeley Heights YMCA marked the culmination of a long process to find a permanent home in the Berkeley Heights community that offered the best in safe, high quality programming and services. Countless donors, volunteers, staff, and community partners helped make this facility a reality, and we are confident that it will serve as a site of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility for generations to come.
"It is not about the building, square footage, or the pool. It is about expanding our mission, increasing our impact and having the ability to really change lives."

BERKELEY HEIGHTS COMMUNITY POOL AT THE YMCA
In the summer of 2020 the Summit Area YMCA officially opened the brand new Berkeley Heights Community Pool at the YMCA. The facility includes a heated, Olympic-sized pool, a zero entry kiddie pool, and two new locker rooms and family changing rooms with showers. The pool operated under the guidelines put in place by the Governor and the New Jersey Department of Health (DOH) for everyone's safety. Health screenings and face coverings were required to enter the facility and social distancing was observed. Members had to reserve their time slots in order to manage our reduced capacity and all equipment was cleaned between sessions throughout the day.
SUMMIT YMCA
Planning and preparation is still underway for our Summit Capital Campaign. With the construction of the new Berkeley Heights facility completed, the Summit Area YMCA has continued planning for upgrades and renovations to the historic Summit YMCA branch. The Summit YMCA has been the cornerstone of our community for the last 135 years and is a facility that welcomes and provides services for all. The Summit Area YMCA is currently working to secure additional funding needed for all of the Summit YMCA capital needs so that construction can begin and continue in a timely manner.
